When
I started out the blog, I wasn’t very sure of how long I’d continue writing.
But then here I am with the 25th post :). Yes, 25 posts!! Quite a milestone for me ‘cause I never
thought I could keep the interest alive for so long. It’s quite special, so if
you think I’m going a lil’ overboard with my enthusiasm, tolerate me. C’mon
guys, it’s a first 25 post blog for me, so :):)
Today
is a day filled with specials.
First
of all; Nutties, happy birthday baby. May you have the best of everything
always.
Second
of all; well this is my 25th post. Yes, there I go again :):):)
Third
of all; a special person writes a guest post for my blog. Ms. Sakshi Bual, I haven’t
grown tired of mentioning how & why you’ve been special. To have written
this post, entirely for me, is just wow J
And not to mention, apart from poetry that you’ve been so good with, you ought
to dabble with fiction once in a while. Don’t you guys agree? I’m happy &
mighty proud of what you’ve belted out here.
Not everybody gets a second chance.
Every
story has a beginning and an end. Happy Beginnings define worth of most of the
stories but this one was different. It had to be... Because that's how it could
have led to a perfect ending.
She
lay there wondering how 5 years passed seeing the man she hated most in the
world. She had every reason to do so. He was closest to the guy she ever loved.
Every time the word 'closest' flashed through her mind, she felt jealous and
insecure. She had lain down her priorities but conditionally.
She
had met the 'man of her dreams', as she loved to describe him, 9 years ago. She
was born and brought up in a conservative family, quite contrary to the
personality she had: smart, chic and well dressed. Getting admission in the
most happening college of the city followed by a 'well executed' planned
proposal by this handsome guy made her feel on cloud nine. She was happy, gay,
blissful and 'every-word-that-describes-ecstasy'. Movies, late night phone
calls, and lavish dinners, long drives: she had the privilege of all those
moments she ever craved for. It was 'THE PERFECT LIFE' for her, nothing less
and nothing more could have tempted her now.
But
then, Love stays with time, it's the magic that starts to fade and the worst
part is that it's replaceable. Jealousy crept in as the replacement. She was
jealous of his best friend who was always asked first, be it for a movie, a
supper, a trip or anything where she expected to be prioritized. The feeling
was getting more and more intense. She tried to understand but couldn’t. He
tried to explain but couldn’t. The feeling couldn't sink in and so, her most
precious relationship did. And the credits team had only one name: his best
friend.
Finally
she moved on, completely and adamantly. He insisted; she didn't come back. She
made every effort to lose contact without knowing that 3 years later, she would
have no other option. That she would want to talk but could not. That the
feeling of jealousy would finally sink in. That she would be at peace yet
confused and depressed. That she would
want to speak to him for just once. That she would want to rewind time. That
she would want to ask for forgiveness. That she would want someone to understand
her, hug her and rekindle that spark in her again. That she would want someone
to help her unconditionally. That she would want someone to help her get over
the guilt feeling that she could do nothing to save him.
Only
she had moved on 3 years ago, time had preferred to stay still.
And
today she lay there wondering how 5 years passed, rather flew, with the man who
is now her husband, friend, companion and who did everything for that spark.
They now know the reason why that one particular star shines so much more
brightly. They now know that people are never bad; it’s always the
circumstances that take over. You have one life and not everybody gets a second
chance. Make the most of it and spread love as much as you can.
