The sky was overcast &
the sun shone bright at the same time playing hide-and-seek with the clouds.
For me, your face brought shifts of colors; wild colors that saw me roll over
the grass, laugh & pant at the same moment while I’d squeeze my eyes to
hide the warm tears of happiness.
There was a lot of green,
peace & quiet among the concrete jungle that surrounds us; there was a
lot of life – days that began with wafting aroma of brewing coffee & ended
with red wine as the day prepared to retire; sprinkled with a generous helping
of romance & artless tomfoolery.
The dry spells of hostility
would mock us for the hasty simmering of our flying tempers; our sorry faces
that would resist in vain any contempt towards each other, for a broad smile
would quickly follow.
Simple. Uncomplicated.
Honorable. Perhaps, it was love.
What do I expect of your sudden goodbye, when all our
castles in the air still remind me of your animated reality, and my stubborn
denial.
